Writers are always looking for just the write spot to sit and write. For some, that’s a cosy chair in their own home. But many others are looking for just enough social exposure (and noise) to keep them focused and cut off procrastination. Thanks to a national non-profit, November is the month many writers start new projects and commit to writing every day. At PatchWork Collective, we want to be the place writers can go to meet their writing goals. That’s why we’re offering special discount drop-in rates to writers all month long.
NaNoWriMo Puts the Challenge to Writers: 50,000 Words in 30 Days
Every November, writers all across the country, and now the world, scramble to put words on the page as participants in “National Novel Writing Month“. This non-profit, month long event promotes writing and literacy in students and adults. It also pushes authors to get out and write.
Traditionally, the goal is for writers to start a new fiction project on November 1 and write a 50,000 word draft by November 30. The non-profit organization hosts events every night (and all day most weekends) giving writers a chance to come together for encouragement and meet their daily writing goals. Writers can also choose targets in terms of pages, time spent or other steps along the way to a published novel. When they hit their targets, writers “win” NaNo and are entitled to all the bragging rights that come with that.
PatchWork Collective Offers Write-Ins and Drop-In Discounts to NaNo Writers
At PatchWork Collective, we have always had a heart for writers. Our co-founder, Lisa Schmidt is a professional writer under the name the Legal Linguist, where she writes blogs, briefs, and web content for lawyers and small businesses. Lisa has participated in NaNoWriMo for years, and even managed to “win” one time. We are also proud to have writers in our ranks as members and supporters, and host a monthly Write Night where those writers can get together and work on projects throughout the year.
Free Weekly Write-In Events at PatchWork Collective
Now, we’re making our commitment to writers and to our local NaNoWriMo chapter official. We’re hosting weekly write nights throughout November: Thursdays from 5:00 to 9:00 (except Thanksgiving). Writers can come, get official NaNo swag, and push for their daily 1667 words, catch up on past days, or even push ahead to hit their 50,000 words. PatchWork will supply the caffeine. You supply the creativity.
Write On Your Own Time With Discounted Drop-In Rates
Thursday nights not good for you? No problem. We’re also offering discounted drop-in rates for writers throughout the month of November. Just show the Facility Manager your NaNo project to get 50% off the daily drop in rate. You can work from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday (and drink all the coffee, tea, and cocoa you want) for just $10. Outside food and drinks are allowed too, so you don’t have to interrupt your flow just because your stomach is empty.
*This rate is only available for non-member drop-in passes, and only for November 1 – 30, 2019. Proceeds from daily drop-in passes go to PatchWork Collective and do not support National Novel Writing Month.*
Ready to get writing? Sign up for a write night or contact us for more details. We can’t wait to see what you’re writing.
